A brief explanation of the different names used in boat covers.

Bimini tops are named after the island of their origin, {whose fishermen are responsible for its creation to shield them from the elements}. The modern Bimini top may be found in a vast variety of shapes, sizes and colors, though there are certain important factors to help narrow down the type of Bimini top you would need. Bimini tops are free standing structures that are supported by either a stainless steel or aluminum frame. You often see bimini tops with clear front and side curtains fitted for further protection from the elements.

Boat Canopies are similar to Biminis in that they have a frame to support them, but are always connected to either the windscreen or front deck area.

Other boat covers, include Tonneau Covers, that go from the windscreen to the back of the boat. Storm Covers that extend back from either a bimini or a canopy and go to the back of the boat, then there are All Over Covers as the name implies that go from the nose of the boat to the very rear of the boat, these covers normally have a strap or rope sewn into the edge that secures the cover to the boat and if made correctly are suitable for towing.

There are many other types of covers that are used on a variety of different  boats, Bow Tonneaus,  Dodgers, Awnings, T.Tops , Pram Hoods, Splash Guards, Stoneguards, Camper covers, then there are dash covers instrument covers, boots, deck covers, windscreen covers, helm covers, if there is something on a boat there is a cover made for it.
